Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing and using LingoKeep ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

LingoKeep is a language-learning service — a Chrome extension and companion website that add dual subtitles, dictionary lookup, word lists, and flashcards with spaced-repetition review to YouTube, together with cloud subtitle translation where your browser and YouTube cannot supply one. The Service may include various features and functionalities that are subject to change.

3. User Accounts

To use certain features of the Service, you must register for an account. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate and complete information
  • Maintain the security of your account credentials
  • Promptly update any changes to your account information
  • Accept responsibility for all activities that occur under your account

4. Privacy Policy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy. Please review our Privacy Policy to understand our practices.

5. Plans, Subscription and Payments

The Service has a free plan and a paid plan ("Pro"). The free plan includes the core learning loop and keeps up to 100 cards; Pro removes that cap and adds the features listed on our pricing page. By subscribing to a paid plan:

  • You agree to pay all fees associated with your subscription plan
  • Subscription fees are billed in advance and renew automatically until you cancel
  • You authorize us to charge your chosen payment method
  • If Pro is not right for you, we will refund the first payment on your account in full — ask within 14 days of it and we will not ask you why. This covers monthly, yearly and lifetime alike. A refund ends Pro access on the account; the cards you have saved stay exactly where they are. To ask, email support@lingokeep.com or use the Support tab under Settings, which reaches the same place with your account already attached
  • Later renewals are not automatically refundable. You can cancel at any time before one, and you keep Pro to the end of the period you have already paid for. If a renewal took you by surprise, write to us anyway — we would far rather sort it out with you directly
  • You can cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings; cancelling stops the next renewal and your Pro access runs to the end of the period you have already paid for, with no partial refund for the remainder
  • Lifetime plans are a one-time purchase of the Pro feature set for as long as the Service operates; they never renew, they carry the same 14-day guarantee as any first payment, and they are subject to the fair-use terms in Section 6
  • We may decline a refund on an account showing the automated, scripted, resold or shared use described in Sections 6 and 7
  • If a paid plan ends, cards you saved beyond the free plan's limit are not deleted, but you will not be able to save new ones until your deck is back under it

Nothing in this section limits the refund, cancellation or withdrawal rights you have under the consumer law of the country you live in. Where those rights give you more than we offer here, they apply.

6. Fair Use of Metered Features

Some features consume per-use server or third-party AI resources — for example cloud subtitle translation, and AI-generated explanations when they become available. These features include fair-use allowances on every plan, including lifetime plans. The allowances are sized generously so that ordinary personal use does not meet them; they exist to prevent automated, scripted, or shared consumption. We may adjust these allowances, and may throttle or suspend accounts whose usage patterns indicate abuse, to keep the Service sustainable. We may also offer future features as separate paid add-ons; a plan includes the features we list for it, not a promise that every future feature joins it automatically.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any illegal purpose
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service
  • Share your account credentials with others
  • Access the Service by automated means, or resell or redistribute what it returns

8. Third-Party Services and Content

LingoKeep is an independent product. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by YouTube, Google, Anki, or any other third party whose service it works alongside. The Service displays subtitles and video content that belong to YouTube and its creators, and your use of that content remains governed by YouTube's own terms. We do not download, host, or redistribute video content. Dictionary data comes from open sources under their own licences, and machine translation is produced by a third-party AI provider — both are aids to study, not guaranteed accurate, and should not be relied on where accuracy matters.

9. Your Content

The cards you save are yours. We claim no ownership of them, and we store and process them only to provide the Service to you. Whatever plan you are on, you can download everything on your account at any time from the Privacy tab in your settings; Pro adds one-click export in Anki's own format. Deleting your account deletes them — see our Privacy Policy for what that means in practice.

10. Modifications to Service

We reserve the right to modify or discontinue the Service at any time, with or without notice. We shall not be liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuance of the Service.

11. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from your account settings. We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms. If we terminate your account other than for a breach, we will refund the unused portion of any prepaid period.

12. Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that translations, dictionary entries, or review scheduling will be accurate or suitable for any particular purpose. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for lost data. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, and some jurisdictions do not allow these exclusions, in which case they apply only as far as that jurisdiction permits.
